Welcome to the 3-Part Learning Series

With Shawna Melbourn, RD, CEDS-C, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor

This 3-Part Learning Series is open to dietitians who want to challenge and deepen their eating disorder education.

If you don't feel you see people living with eating disorders and you are wondering why there is so much emphasis on eating disorders, then this learning series is for you!

We start September 16th, 2024!

If you work with people…

Then it's almost certain you will come across eating disorders in your practice - and there's no better feeling than feeling prepared, skilled and that you know what to say, what not to say, and how to talk about nutrition.

In each of these sessions, Shawna Melbourn, Registered Dietitian, CEDS-C, CIEC will share her perspectives on compassionate, fair and human-centred approaches to eating disorder care. With Shawna's real-world approach, she will give you her biggest tips on helping you and your client - so you don't feel stranded, under prepared and scared.

Session #1:

“But, I don’t see people with eating disorders” is an introduction to the prevalence of eating disorders, and how dietitians are in the best position to detect, assess and address this illness.

Session #2:

"How to lean into your worry about saying the wrong thing", Shawna will be your cheering squad so you can feel supported, rather than left alone with worry, discomfort and interrupted thoughts about whether you said the wrong thing.

Session #3:

“8 Principles of Nutrition Rehabilitation for Eating Disorder Support and Care”, Shawna will provide a roadmap for safe and appropriate nutrition interventions. Eating disorder nutrition therapy can be convoluted and confusing, and with these principles, it can provide some succinctness to this part of treatment.

You will also receive a fourth session, "How to start a conversation about body image". Aren't sure where to start when it comes to body image?! I know most of us don't know how to talk about bodies - especially when there are so many considerations to take into account!
